Herbert Leon Williams Sr., was called to ministry and started his pastoral journey in 1977 out of the St. Paul CME Church, Walls, Mississippi, where: The Reverend Ezell Bowens was Pastor, Reverend J. B. Washington was Presiding Elder, and Bishop Joseph A. Johnson, Jr., was Presiding Prelate.

He started the itinerate ministry in 1983 at St. Paul CME Church in Chester, Pennsylvania, under the leadership of the Reverend Samuel L. Champion, Presiding Elder and Bishop Oree Broomfield, Sr., Presiding Prelate.

H. Leon Williams Sr., is Presiding Elder of the Crowley District in the South Louisiana Region Annual Conference. He has spent his ministry as pastor, preacher, teacher, evangelist and counselor. His pastoral experience extends through six states, namely Mississippi, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Tennessee, Washington and Louisiana.

Churches are: Daniels Chapel and New Travel, Independence, Mississippi; Hudsonville, Isom and Graves Chapel, Holly Springs and Hudsonville, Mississippi; St. Paul, Chester, Pennsylvania; Broomfield, Gastonia, North Carolina; Greenwood, Memphis, Tennessee; Miles Memorial, Tacoma, Washington; Mt. Nebo/St. Paul, Westlake, Louisiana; Cross Memorial, Oakdale, Louisiana and Reeves Temple, Lake Charles, Louisiana.

His pastoral assignments offered the opportunity to serve under many Bishop’s and in several Annual Conferences. Bishop Joseph A. Johnson, Bishop Henry C. Bunton and Bishop Marshall Gilmore, North Mississippi Annual Conference; Bishop Oree Broomfield Sr, New York/Washington and Carolina Conferences; Bishop William H. Graves, West Tennessee Conference; Bishop E. Lynn Brown, Alaska/Pacific Conference; and Bishop Thomas L. Brown, Sr., South Louisiana Conference.

He has held positions of leadership, church and community as: Presiding Elder of the Alaska/Pacific Conference, Director of Evangelism, Board of Trustees Union Baptist Theological Seminary, Chester Upland School Board Director, Vice-President Chester and vicinity Ministerial Alliance, Member Cheyney University Self Evaluation Team, Vocational Education Board, Board Member Nehemiah Housing, Chair of Board of Directors African Museum, Member of NAACP and Urban League, Human Relations Commission, Assistant Dean of Leadership Training School, President/CEO Plumbline Ministry Inc., and, attended three Presidential Inaugurations.
